One NC Small Business Program Match and Incentive Reminder

The One NC Small Business Program was funded at $2M for FY 2023 which runs from 7/1/22 to 6/30/23. The Program has two components: the incentive and the match. Links to the program solicitations are noted below. If you believe you are eligible, we encourage you to read the solicitations very carefully.

Incentive

Deadline to submit
Within 45 days of successful submission of the SBIR/STTR Phase 1 proposal. Submission must occur between 7/1/22 and 6/30/23. For companies whose Federal notification occurred between the start date (July 1, 2022) and release date (October 3, 2022) of this Solicitation, the Board must receive applications within forty-five (45) days from the release date of this Solicitation.

Funding and Eligibility
Qualified applicants will be reimbursed for a portion of the costs incurred in preparing a Federal SBIR/STTR Program Phase I proposal, up to a maximum of $12,000.

The maximum percentage for reimbursements are: 75% for an eligible business located in a Development Tier 1 or 2 county, and 50% for an eligible business located in a Tier 3 county, as defined by the N.C. Department of Commerce (2022 County Tier Designations).

Maximum # of incentives per company – One per year and up to 10 over the life of the company. Program funding may be depleted prior to the end of the fiscal year.

Within 45 days of the receipt of the SBIR/STTR Phase 1 award notification (not the project start date). For companies whose Federal notification occurred between the start date (July 1, 2022) and release date (October 3, 2022) of this Solicitation, the Board must receive applications within forty-five (45) days from the release date of this Solicitation.

Funding and Eligibility
50% of the Federal SBIR/STTR Program award, not to exceed $75,000. Eligible applicants are limited to those Phase I SBIR/STTR awardees that meet either of the following two conditions:

  1. Are located in a Tier 1 or 2 county (2022 designations)
  2. Are located in a Tier 3 county (2022 designations), have not previously received an award under the Match Program, and have fewer than four employees

Maximum # of matches per company – One per year. Program funding may be depleted prior to the end of the fiscal year.
