Founder and CEO Karen Caruso started Mind Your Business, Inc. (“MYB”) from her own basement in 1996. Her intent initially was simply to screen a nanny who would care for her own children. Finding it near impossible to find a company that offered such employee screening services to private individuals, she started her own. Karen Caruso’s mission is to help her clients to make better, more informed hiring decisions. Through her dedication to accuracy, high-quality service, and excellence, Caruso has created a company that empowers her clients, her employees, and her community. Thanks to these values, MYB has become a leading nationwide provider of background investigations, EEO investigations, and drug-screening services. MYB now stands as a testament to what a big vision, diligent, careful processes, and the passionate pursuit of reliable pre-screening can accomplish. Early on in 1996, MYB targeted the government as a strong potential market but lacked the background knowledge and experience to successfully sell to government agencies. The company has worked with North Carolina PTAC since 2005, and PTAC assistance has covered virtually every topic in the government contracting arena. PTAC counselors have helped the client navigate registrations, assisted with specific solicitations, reviewed bid and proposal documents, provided strategic planning, provided 8(a) Program application support, and helped with advice and planning on marketing to the government. MYB has accomplished impressive results in government sales, including award of a GSA schedule contract for background screening and EEO investigation services, certification as an 8(a) firm by the Small Business Administration (SBA), and countless contract awards across a broad range of Federal, state and local agencies.
In response to COVID-19, MYB has developed symptom screening services to further help you protect your employees and your business. With MYB’s varied risk mitigation services, adding ancillary services to address COVID-19 screening and preparedness was a logical next step for MYB to make. Today, in the midst of a once in a generation pandemic, MYB is the experienced provider dedicated and ready to conduct COVID-19 Screening Services. They have extensive experience in providing and managing highly trained contracted employees that operate within commercial and government facilities. MYB has developed two different options for their COVID-19 Symptom Screening services.
- MYB provides trained Health Screening Specialists to screen your employees and/or visitors for COVID-19 symptoms before entering into your business, campus, or facilities. These Health Screening Specialists are trained according to all CDC guidelines. Screenings include temperatures taken using no contact thermometers, physical symptom identification, and a series of questions answered regarding health, travel, and contact with others with the virus. MYB Health Screening Specialists are ready to serve clients nationwide. They provide clients with daily, weekly, and/or monthly data reports, providing a full understanding of the screening procedures and recorded information from each screening.
- MYB provides the necessary equipment and PPE you need to implement health screening and safety protocols necessary to safely reopen. These include no-contact thermometers, automated temperature scanners, masks, gloves, face shields, gowns, hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies, and more. MYB is your single source for all PPE needs.
The idea to provide these products and services again came from Karen Caruso needing to fulfill her own business needs, seeing the roadblocks that are in place, and deciding to be the change for others, just as she did 24 years ago in the background screening industry. When the pandemic hit, MYB was in need of its own health screening protocols, PPE, and sanitizing supplies.
