The SBTDC celebrated the opening of its newest office on November 19th in Nags Head. The office is located at the NC Works Career Center, 2522 South Crouton Highway (Milepost 10.5). This location represents a unique partnership between the Northeastern Workforce Development Board, NC Works (NC Dept. of Commerce) and the SBTDC. It also reflects a new paradigm in thinking about employment by recognizing that healthy, growing small to medium sized businesses are often the most promising potential employers. Co-location is expected to result in enhanced referrals of existing SMEs to the SBTDC by NC Works.

The NCWorks Center focuses on employment and training. Putting people to work is what the center is all about – through registration on the state’s website, www.ncworks.gov to look for job openings and create a resume; as well as providing computers, fax machine, copy machine and telephones for job seekers. Employer services include access to training and posting of job openings. Veteran services include help with reemployment and support. Also those needing new skills to reenter the workforce or overcome under-employment could possibly qualify for financial assistance to attend college or technical programs through Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Services.
