Electric Motor Shop

Electric Motor Shop was founded in Wake Forest, NC in 1952 by Thomas Wright. Since its beginnings as a small electric motor repair center, EMS has grown to be one of the largest, best equipped, and most technically advanced companies of its kind in the southeast United States. With locations in Wake Forest and Rocky Mount, the company provides time critical, OEM quality electric motor, electromechanical and power transmission repair, rebuilding and retrofit services for a wide range of commercial and industrial customers.

As the company has grown, its leaders have also made plans for the future, including the next generation of owners. Electric Motor Shop became a woman-owned business when ownership passed to Jane Wright and Hollie Wright-Hicks. Recognizing the value of certification, the company reached out to the NC PTAC for assistance with the North Carolina HUB program.

Electric Motor Shop worked with their PTAC counselor over the course of several months to review all of their business documents and prepare their files for submission. Their PTAC counselor was able to make recommendations on formatting of files, details to include, and offered explanations for all of the certification requirements. Electric Motor Shop’s diligence did pay off, as the company became NC HUB certified in September.
