Selling to Local Governments

There are numerous opportunities to sell to local governments in North Carolina. Some examples include, police and sheriff departments, fire departments, health departments, housing authorities, parks and recreation, libraries, courts, etc. Many municipalities and counties list their requirements on the state's Interactive Purchasing System (IPS). However, many do not, therefore, businesses should market directly to local governments. When you review web sites remember to search under "departments" to identify the purchasing department. It may sometimes be found under the Finance Department. Many of these communities now provide procurement and vendor registration information on their web pages.
